Happy National Senior Citizen’s Day from DealDash

Tomorrow, August 21st is National Senior Citizen Day. I’m sure you know a few senior citizens, let’s take a moment to honor our elders.

Take a moment to think – who are some important senior citizens in your life? Maybe your parents or even your grandparents are still with us, perhaps you have an elderly neighbor, friend, teacher, or other person in your life that you would like to celebrate on Senior Citizen Day.

Do you know where the term “senior citizen” started? It was actually started during a 1938 political campaign as a euphemism for “elder person,” and is now known everywhere. Some dictionaries define the term “senior citizen” as a person over the age of 65.

Legally, the term senior citizen applies to the age at which pensions, social security or medical benefits for the elderly become available. Here in the USA, traditionally people have been eligible to retire with full Social Security benefits at age 65. Additionally, one can retire early at age 62 and receive a portion of their retirement benefits.

Now that we have defined the term, let’s think of ways that we can show appreciation to our oldest of friends and family. You could get them a card, of course. Everyone appreciates a card now and then. Flowers are always appreciated as well, especially by the ladies.

Another way that you could show your favorite senior how much you love them is to come over and cook dinner for them. How about bringing over some delicious steaks and grilling them for your parents or grandparents? DealDash always has some grills up for auction. If you want to see the items that are related to grills and grilling on DealDash just click here.

If you would really like to make a senior’s day, how about teaching them how to use DealDash? Most of the senior citizens that I know all own computers, smart phones, and even iPads. Why not show our favorite elders how to have fun and win wonderful deals on DealDash?

I hope that this article has given you some ideas on how to make a senior’s life a little brighter. Make sure that you have a plan in place for honoring your favorite seniors, and then check out DealDash. Remember, these senior citizens paved the way for us, so be kind to them. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

Observations, My Handy Tips at Deal Dash

After a couple of years shopping and bidding at Deal Dash, I have learned a few things through simple observation.  Here are a few of my handy tips which have helped me win many auctions.  These are good tips to play and win by!

  1. Use the “Who’s at their limit” tab. It costs one bid, but it is a great way to see who is out of the competition.  Over time, you will not want to play at all without this information.
  2. When two of the same items are on the market at the same time, one will go for much less than the other and it’s usually the second one to come up that sells first.
  3. Binning is so much better than over bidding.  I have watched people grossly overbid “just to win” they are senseless and foolish to play this way.  It took me a while to learn how to walk away, but it’s a great strategy.
  4. The same players, play the same way over and over.  So if you’ve noticed that one guy is always in the beginning of an auction, he is!  That’s his strategy.  In time, you will know just when he will back out.
  5. Then there are the jumpers, refer to #1.  You really need to see if a jumper is out of the field if you are “going to go for it”.  Some jumpers jump late and leave early and others never leave, let them have it, they’ll reach their limit and be gone!
  6. It’s not worth getting into a battle with a poor sport.  They won’t lose, and they’ll spend all your bids.
  7. Planning a win is better than a bunch of random bids for items you don’t need. Stay true to the items you actually want, especially if you are new to the site, get a feel for how the game is played before you “go for it!”
  8. The best way to win is to use your Bid Buddy, use your Bid Buddy , use your Bid Buddy!  You will earn free bids for the time you are high bidder and you will only place bids when it’s “your turn”. Random bidding costs money.
  9. New items go for less the first few auctions, then much higher for a while.  Then they level out again.  Keep your eye on your favorite item, when the stats start to decline, it’s time to get involved.
  10. Buy bids when they are on sale!!!! Deal Dash often has these outrageous sales and you can get bids for as low as .12 cents at time.  When the price hit .12, it’s time to invest in that one special item.

These are a few of my tips for winning, I’ve tried the alternative and have found these few observations to be pretty consistent and I play and win by them.

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!

Knowing When to Say “I Need to BIN.”

Sadly, we can’t all win every auction all the time. If we did, DealDash wouldn’t be able to stay viable for very long! Here is a simple guide to know when it’s time to say “I need to BIN.”

Unless you are just throwing a few bids on auctions here and there not really expecting to win, just hoping to get lucky, you most likely are bidding in an auction to win. No matter who you are, though, there will always be a person who either has more bids to use than you do, or are not as careful with their bids as you, or just someone who is just flat-out more stubborn than you are.

No matter who you are and how many bids you have available to use, realistically,  no one can win all of the auctions that they participate in on DealDash, or any other auction site. Luckily, DealDash has an amazing feature available to all of us called BIN, also known as “Buying It Now.”

Deal Dash wants all of their bidders to be happy and feel good about bidding, so they created BIN. With BIN, if you have bid too much and are not going to win you can purchase the item at the retail price that is listed on each and every auction page, and have all of the bids that you spent on the auction returned to your account.

Knowing when to BIN instead of continuing to bid is an important skill to cultivate – there are few things more frustrating than doing the math after the auction is over and realizing that you spent far too many bids and should have used DealDash’s BIN feature instead.

When you know your limits and stick to them, playing and shopping at DealDash is always an awesome experience that will help you win great deals or be able to buy items at a fair price and have them shipped to you for free. Good Luck and Happy Bidding, everyone!
