Sometimes Winning is Tricky

Sometimes winning auctions can be tricky. Are you making mistakes that are keeping you from winning more auctions?

In life, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It’s the same on DealDash. Occasionally it seems to me that I bid and bid and can’t seem to win. While getting on a losing streak is never fun, it’s a good chance to examine your behavior and habits on DealDash. Are you doing things to contribute to your losses? Let’s take a peek and see.

Are you Over Extending Yourself?

Are you bidding in more than 2 or 3 auctions at a time? This isn’t a good idea, no matter how you go about it. Bidding on more than a couple of auctions at a time does not increase your chances of winning an auction, it only increases your chance to waste bids. The exception to this is if you are bidding up to the BIN (Buy It Now) price every time.

If you are trying to place bids here and there on many auctions at a time, it’s not going to end up positively for you, unless you happen to get lucky. The best practice is to only bid in a couple of auctions at a time. This way you can give them your full attention. Personally, I try to never bid in more than 2 auctions at a time, unless I have completely filled up my BidBuddy and plan on bidding up to the BIN price.

Paying Close Attention is a Must

This goes hand-in-hand with only bidding in a few auctions at a time. You need to stay alert and concentrate on the auctions that you are bidding in. If you get distracted with life and wander away from the auctions you will find yourself losing. If you can’t pay close attention to the auctions that you are in, be sure that you load up your BidBuddy and let him bid for you while you are busy with your other chores.

Open Up the Individual Auction Pages

Don’t bid from the main home screen of DealDash! You need to open up each individual auction’s page if you want to win. If you’re not opening up the actual auction and just bidding from the main home screen then it’s unlikely that you’ll win. If you like to bid on more than 1 auction at once, open up multiple tabs or windows on your computer. Bidding from the home screen puts you at a huge disadvantage.

Opening up each auction offers you key information to help you win. You can see what the item has previously sold for, the reviews on the item if there are any, and you can set the BidBuddy. The BidBuddy is the only way that you’re going to have any real success on DealDash.

You Can’t Win Them All – BIN is Your Friend

Don’t lose twice. Using a lot of bids on an auction and then not using the BIN (Buy It Now) feature if you don’t win the auction is just like losing all over again. When you BIN an auction that you didn’t win, you get exactly the amount of bids that you placed back in your account to use again, as well as free shipping on the product. Since you have everything back that you originally started with, you break even.

If you’re a homeowner, gardener, or someone who likes to work with your hands, then the Home, Garden, and Tools category on DealDash is the one for you. Even if you aren’t a homeowner, you can still enjoy this category because this is where DealDash stores some of their most popular items, including art! Let’s take a quick peek at what the Home, Garden, and Tools category has to offer.

Gardening

Do you have a garden in your yard at home? Even if you don’t have the space for a garden in your yard you can always do a potted garden on your balcony or deck, or even make use of a community garden.

DealDash has many useful gardening supplies such as gardening hand tools, raised garden beds, shovels, and rakes. If you’re a serious gardener, don’t worry, DealDash has things for you as well. DealDash has pop-up greenhouses, hoses, sprinklers, and even mowers and weed whackers available for auction.

How About Tools?

If gardening isn’t your style, what about tools? Tools are for everyone, not just the local mechanic. Why would you need tools if you’re not so handy? The perfect example is something that happened to me just the other day. I purchased a new toy for one of my children, and they couldn’t get it out of the box. I thought this was strange until I took a closer look. There were EIGHT screws attaching the toy to the box! If I didn’t have a screwdriver I would have been in trouble. Why they would attach a kid’s toy to a box with screws, I will never know. Regardless, be sure that you always have a few tools on hand in case you need them.

Home Decor

How to Stay Awake, Stay Alert

Did you ever fall asleep at your computer while playing on DealDash.com?

I cannot count the number of times I fell asleep while playing on DealDash and woke up just in time to see another player win the auction that could have been mine. How disappointing!

Of course, it is never a good idea to play on DealDash after a hard day at work, but some players find bidding on DealDash a relaxing way to end the day.

If you relax a little too much, however, you might fall asleep at the wrong time. Therefore, the question is: “What can you do to stay awake and alert when you are exhausted?”

Here are some things that work for me to stay awake and alert when playing on DealDash:

Keep a wash cloth and a bowl of cold water on my computer desk. When I feel drowsy, I dip the wash cloth in the cold water, wring it out, open it up and put the wash cloth on my face. That usually wakes me up in a hurry.
Quickly get myself a fresh cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. I always make sure I have enough bids in BidBuddy before I leave my computer.
Stand up every few minutes and do some exercises, such as jumping on my mini rebounder or lifting some weights while watching my computer screen.
Listen to some lively music. If I listen to soothing music, it tends to help put me to sleep instead, which would only add to the problem.

If you plan ahead, you will be less likely to fall asleep at the wrong time. To win auctions on DealDash, it is important to stay awake and stay alert—especially when an auction gets down to the last two or three players.

Don’t be a Greedy Gus! Share the fun and excitement of DealDash with a friend or family member. Of course, you can’t bid in the same auctions, but you can definitely watch and cheer each other on! There are lots of reasons why you should want to share DealDash with a friend. Here are my top 3 reasons.

#1 Save Your Friend Money

I’m sure that you’re a good friend. Good friends want other friends to be able to save money. Even if your friend doesn’t have money problems, don’t you think that they would like to save money on everyday purchases so they can save up the extra for something special like a vacation or a nice extra for the family? Think about it, haven’t you gotten some great deals on DealDash that you would like to share with a friend? Go ahead. Save your friend some money and let them in on the DealDash secret.

#2 Your Friend Can Help You Find Auctions

No matter how much you enjoy using DealDash, I’m sure that there are a few days here and there that you aren’t able to get on and bid. Who knows how many awesome auctions that you are missing when you skip a day of DealDash. Well, that can come to an end if you invite your friend to join DealDash! Your friend can watch for auctions that might interest you and shoot you a quick text when they see one!

Of course, you can always set up an alert so that DealDash emails you when a specific product becomes available. Simply search for an item and hit the “Alert Me” button and DealDash will send you an email when the auction is starting. However, this only works if you know exactly what you want. DealDash doesn’t (yet!) have the algorithm in place to know exactly what you want before you ask for it. You never know what they might come up with in the future, though.

#3 It’s Fun to Share

Come on, everything is more fun with a friend! Even things that aren’t usually so fun like going to the gym are made more fun with a friend. So if you take an activity that’s already fun such as DealDash, and add a friend, it makes it super fun!

One of the best parts about DealDash is telling your friends and family about your best wins. However, if your friends don’t use DealDash, they won’t understand what an amazing win is really all about. When your friend joins DealDash and gets caught up in the excitement of a big win, then you will truly have a friend who understands your love of DealDash. And isn’t understanding what makes a friendship strong?
