DealDash Brings Families Together

How do you like to spend time with your family? I like to DealDash with mine!

One of my favorite ways to spend time with family is to browse on DealDash. The kids love to look at all of the toys, games, and sports equipment while my fiance and I like to look around to see what household items will be coming up for bid soon. It brings us closer together to be able to pick and choose our new items together from DealDash together.

I have very fond memories of being a kid and pouring over the toy and game catalogs with my parents. DealDash is exactly like a modern version of a catalog, with anything and everything that your family might need or want. I wonder if my kids will look back one day and say “Wow, I used to have so much fun looking at DealDash with my Mom!”

Another way that DealDash helps me connect with my family is to search for gifts for them that I know that they will just love. For example, my sister lives a few states away and I only get to see her a few times per year. However, I think about her every day when I log into DealDash and see things that I know that she would like, such as kitchen items or animal items. She has cats, dogs, horses, and chickens, so just about anytime any sort of animal auction pops up I have to text her and ask her if she needs whatever item that was. See, I wouldn’t normally bother to text her in the middle of the day on a random Tuesday, but when an auction comes up that she might like I have to text her about it, and that keeps us connected. So thank you to DealDash for keeping my sister and me close, even though we live far away from each other.

Great Christmas Gift Series: Xbox One

The Xbox One is made by Microsoft, and it’s one of the most popular gaming systems available right now. There are a huge amount of games that can be played on this game system, from children to teens to adults.

If you have a person in your life who loves video games and currently owns an Xbox 360 you might want to consider giving them an upgrade to the Xbox One for Christmas this year. The best news about upgrading someone who already owns an Xbox 360 is that the Xbox One is backwards compatible, meaning that if someone already has an Xbox membership, and either digital or disc based games they are in luck, because they will work with the Xbox One.

If you’re shopping for a couple and the guy is really into video games and the lady not so much – not to worry, they can both enjoy the Xbox One, because even though it’s more known for it’s awesome games, you can also download apps onto your Xbox One, as well as watch internet-based TV such as Netflix or Hulu through the Xbox one, no computer needed. If you’re wondering how that works, it’s pretty simple. The Xbox One runs on three operating systems: the Xbox One system, a Windows 8 kernel, and a third operating system made by Microsoft to act as glue between the two main operating systems. This helps aid you in being able to switch between games, TV, the web, and any other apps that you might end up downloading.

The Xbox One has a really cool voice recognition system that powers the console. This makes it easy for the Xbox’s owner to give the Xbox One voice commands like as ‘Xbox on,’ or ‘Xbox, TV’. The Xbox One also has a new built-in Kinect, so the Xbox One can also be controlled with gestures, like a wave of the hand, or by grabbing and dragging things.

The new Kinect that’s built in has a 1080p camera and can also recognize different people by identifying their faces. It syncs and stores this information with this person’s Gamertag and Xbox Live account if they would like to sign on to a friend’s console. This means that if several people are gaming on one console which has all of their information stored, the camera on the Kinect is able to identify which player is holding the controller in order to do things such as update a game’s scores. Pretty cool, huh?

It’s a DealDashingly Great Fall!

It’s a beautiful crisp fall day outside today, and I am grateful to be using all of the wonderful things that I have gotten on DealDash this year.

The leaves are everywhere, so of course I have been using my Flexrake that I won on DealDash this year. The Flexrake is awesome for picking up those troublesome leaves, and not only that it’s super sturdy and seems like it’s going to last for quite a few seasons. I am contemplating getting a few more of these great rakes so everyone in the family can come out and rake together. As it is, I am the one raking and the kids are the ones jumping into my piles and messing them up! Kids will be kids. If you would like to get your own rake from DealDash, there’s still time! Another item that I think about in the fall is my hose reel. Now is about the time of year when we reel in our hoses, disconnect them from the house, and turn off the water supplies to the outdoor faucets. My Suncast resin wicker hose reel is a great sturdy box for my hose, weather proof (so far!), and looks great next to my house. The last item that I am so happy to have this season is my Pressure Joe pressure washer. It’s Time for Fall Maintenance and Cleaning

We’re now firmly into fall here in New England, and it’s time for some annual fall cleaning and maintenance on homes everywhere.

Let’s start with the easy stuff first — cleaning! One of the most important cleaning things that you should do in the fall is to take all of your family’s winter comforters to the dry cleaners or dry clean them yourself with a home kit. That way they are fresh and clean when the temperature starts dropping later on in the month.

Another thing that is great to do now is to go through all of the summer clothing in the house and figure out what you would like to with them, either pack them away for next year or donate them to the thrift store. Once you have figured that out, it’s time to bring out the winter clothes! Make sure that you have shopped for laundry detergent and fabric softener on DealDash, because the next step is to wash and dry all of your winter clothing before you put them into your closets and dressers. Even if you washed them directly before you packed them away they are still going to be a little stale and wrinkly, it’s best to give them a good washing.

Now on to the maintenance. If you’re a homeowner or a tenant that’s in charge of the maintenance on your home then read on, because these are important things that you should do every fall to keep things running smoothly.

Clean the gutters. I know, it’s not everyone (or anyone’s!) favorite thing to do, but it’s important that after leaves have fallen, clean out your gutters and downspouts, flush them with water, inspect the joints, and tighten your brackets if they need it. Clogged gutters are one of the major causes of ice dams. If any of your gutters are getting old be sure to replace them before the snow falls.
Caulk your windows. This job is a little more fun than the previous one, be sure to caulk around windows and door frames to prevent heat from escaping. Caulk around the outside, and then get a helper to turn on a hairdryer to heat around the edges – if you feel a stream of hot air it means that you should re-caulk that area, you might have missed a spot.
Inspect your roof. Make sure the roof is in good shape with no missing or loose shingles. Ice, rain, snow, and wind combined with rapidly changing temperatures and humidity wreak havoc on roofs.
Have your boiler and fireplace inspected. Heating systems in good shape will use fuel more efficiently, last longer, and have fewer problems if properly serviced.

Hopefully we will have a mild winter this year, but even if we don’t, rest assured that you are prepared for the weather ahead.
